It is a new year, and I am feeling inspired by my new vision, intention and goals. I feel aligned with my purpose and confident of the path I am on.
And yet … I have also had trouble sleeping.
At the end of last year, right before Christmas, Curtis and I bought a new house.
This was not something we had planned. Not even a thought I had entertained. We love our house and love where we live.
But here is what happened. My sister came to visit that week, and we had a fantastic time together. One of the rituals we do whenever we are together is to make our own vision books. This year, we made a vision that included having more time together.
I also included in my vision a place for family visits.
I was thinking maybe a retreat cottage somewhere. She was thinking of a place to visit during the winter months.
I had a teary conversation with her last night. I wanted to spend more time with her. We both committed to our visions.
The very next day, we were going to brunch when I saw an open house posting. I was curious about the price and how it might compare to our house value, so we stopped in.
The first thing I saw was a door that opened into a very lovely guest quarters! It was self-contained with room for a bed, a little kitchen area, and a lovely bath. Something sparked in me. Could my vision become true already?
It was much different than I had imagined, but I felt what I call my Destiny Vision feeling in my heart.
We loved the place, a condominium that had room for both our offices. The grounds were nice and there was a pool and spa that looked inviting. We met people walking around and engaged in conversation.
Something felt right about this place.
So we made an offer.
We put our house on the market.
It all felt right!
That is when the sleepless nights began.
There is something about having a dream come true. A vision that is being shepherded into reality that brings out the scaries!
- All the things that could go wrong.
- The mistakes we could make.
- The money we could lose.
- Time wasted.
Ahhhhhh!
The good news is that it still feels right, and I have learned a lot about how to grow through the challenges that come with having a vision that feels right and then walking the steps to make it real.
Fulfillment is a high-wire act.
My biggest lesson learned was how much peace came to me when I stopped trying to figure everything out alone. When I talked things through with Curtis, friends and family. When I opened up to my real estate agent, I asked the mortgage folks questions.
When I tuned into my inner wisdom and followed spiritual guidance.
I tell my clients this all the time. In order to grow and make the changes you are seeking in yourself, you have to be in action and aim at something you want.
As this year begins and you are creating your vision for the year, as you are setting down goals, aiming for what you want to create, I encourage you to reach out to others so you have peaceful sleep while you face the challenges and the triumphs of making your vision a reality.
Happy 2025!
