“I wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now.”

That is a quote by Maya Angelou.

I was reminded of this quote when writing a recent article about my coaching journey. In my last post, I pulled out a section of this article which will be published for the Co-Active Training Institute in October about how important it is to get support. Especially for yourself and your business.

The other aspect of that article that tickled my fancy was to see the whole 25 year journey! From my initial inspiration to become a coach, to starting my business and all the ups and downs that came with that journey.

Here is a little snippet of my journey:

As I mentioned earlier, my journey since then has been the best of my life.

It has included:

  • Continued training in relationship coaching and business coaching.
  • Going to seminary and becoming an interfaith minister.
  • Creating a card deck to help people communicate more openly that was almost purchased by the US Army!

It has also included:

Having my own AM radio show, internet radio shows, having my own group coaching programs, writing a popular blog, publishing two books, one spiritual called The Soul Search and one called Evolve Your Coaching Business bringing together all of my own learning from creating and maintaining a successful coaching career to help other coaches in their quest to make this amazing profession their career.

The not-so-fun things it included were ending a marriage, moving across the country, moving a few more times. Losing friends, failing at many of my marketing attempts, losing my father, sister, and brother-in-law along the way.

Luckily it included meeting new wonderful friends and helping my family in ways I never could have done without my coach training. And working as a leader for the Co-Active Training Institute in their certification program and core curriculum.

There have been many iterations and an evolution of my own coaching business on this journey.

No matter where you are on your coaching business journey, it is beneficial to stop and see where you are.

What inspires you now?

What has changed since you began?

What have you let go of?

What is the most exciting part of your dream?

What is the right next step to take toward that dream?

That is one thing I saw when I looked at my whole coaching journey. The most important thing I learned that led to my success was to just keep taking the right next step.

As I wrote in the article:

It has not been an easy journey, nor a hard journey, but a full journey that supports me financially, spiritually and with the richest relationships and deepest connections with others that I have ever known.

Here is the  Maya Angelou quote again to wrap up this message because it is simply true for me.

“I wouldn’t take nothing for my journey now.”

Take a look at the questions above.

Write them down and give yourself time to see the answers.

Then take the right next step!
