What is Your Dream? Right now, in this Moment?

What is Your Dream? Right Now, in this Moment?

What is your dream?
Right now?
In this moment?

I love this question. Especially the “right now” part.

So often we dream about some faraway future. Which is fun as hell, but I know that, for me, I sometimes miss the little dreams, the wacky dreams, the delightful dreams, and the dream that is unfolding right now.

I was reminded of this question at a birthday party my dear friend, Jodi, organized for me this past Saturday. It was a gathering of some of my favorite people! The women had, at one time or another, been members of my Alchemy Coaching Circle, and it was a joyful reunion.

I love rituals, so I asked the women to answer the question, “What is one thing you learned while you were in the Alchemy Circle that is still benefiting you today?”

Everyone answered that question, and then, to add to the fun, we all drew a card from an Oracle Tarot type card deck and made a connection to their answer to the question.

This is my idea of FUN in its fullest expression!

After we had gone around the table, one of the women asked me, “Are you living out the life of your wildest dreams?”

I have to admit I was stumped for a minute.

Maybe it’s because I am one year older and feeling really good about this stage in life, which for me is slower and more spacious.

Maybe it is because I have a leg injury and have only been able to hobble around for the past month! (Talk about taking it slow)

But the question took me to a surprising place in my thinking. I realized I don’t think in these terms anymore. I once thought about my wildest dreams, but I have been creating my own dreams for a long time now, and what is more important to me is smaller and more intimate.

My answer was that I have learned that creating my dreams into reality requires that I grow through the challenges that present themselves in my life. Like this latest one with an injury that means I can’t WALK.

Besides meaning I can’t do so many things I take for granted, it has deprived me of my favorite way of unwinding and enjoying nature. My way of exercising and being in my body. My way of connecting with spirit and simply being.

The gift has forced me to slow down. I have more open time to do other things that I would not have done in the past. Connect with people, ponder life, and enjoy just hanging out on my patio, to name a few.

So, for me, the answer to the question: “What is my dream right now?” is to be of service in a way that is fun and beneficial to others. Simple but so joyful!

I see that I can use this recovery time to let go of some habits that don’t serve me and begin new ones that incorporate this slow way of moving in the world, even when I once again have the option of moving fast.

To have more fun with the work I get to do and the people I love.

It may not be beyond my wildest dreams, but it does delight me and give my spirit a lift to be dreaming into the now and seeing the actions I can take that are fulfilling and fruitful.

What is your dream for right now? This moment?
