Relationships @ Work to Grow Your Business

I often hear from coaches when signing up for my business training program that they don’t like marketing. I hear this A LOT!

Sometimes the feeling goes even deeper. Fear and loathing and dread.

I understand these feelings because there are aspects of traditional marketing that can be icky. Coaches don’t like to push things on people, and most people don’t like being pushed.

In all honesty, there are aspects of marketing I still don’t really like.

But the good news is, there is one aspect I love, and I have found that the coaches I work with excel in this area.

Often, it is their number one superpower when it comes to marketing their coaching offers.

Marketing that is relational, not transactional.

The landscape of marketing is constantly changing with the fast-paced changes of social media and online marketing. This is often where coaches get bogged down in their thinking. The thinking that they don’t know how to do this kind of marketing.

Can you relate?

The methodology may have changed, but the art of creating and maintaining good relationships to grow your business is still fairly simple and, dare I say, EASY to do.

Here is my number one tip on this:

Relational marketing is both a short and long game.

The Short Game
You want to add a personal touch to all your marketing activities. This means you reach out personally to people you know with offers that might be a good fit for them or someone they know.

The Long Game
On social media, in your blog or podcast, and through in-person networking or events, you want to cultivate relationships with people who resonate with you and your message. Remembering this is a long game, it is worthwhile to spend time and effort nurturing these relationships.

Both of these are important and in a coach’s wheelhouse. In my next blog, I will unpack each one to give you a few tips on how to uplevel your marketing in a way that is fulfilling and effective.
